A busy few weeks
February 25, 2008 — rockch1ckThe last few weeks have been quite busy for me, I’ve been working on the website for the local NRAS support group here in Brum, and time is ticking away to our first meeting on the 7th March. The site was approved from the NRAS office and I’ve now got it on it’s own domain and it has it’s own email account. Since then I’ve been constantly tweaking it, as you do, rewording, adding extra information and generally trying to improve things. I’m really looking forward to the meeting, and hopefully establishing a great support group for people in the Birmingham area, their carers, family and friends. I have some wonderful people as fellow coordinators and I hope we can really make a difference.
Last Thursday I also did my yearly talk to medical students at my GP practice, it went really well and lasted about an hour. Both my GP and the students thanked me for my time and efforts, but it really is nice to give something back. Many people with any long term health condition often feel on the scrap heap, but doing even small things like this can make a huge difference not only for yourself, but the medical students get to see first hand how you are affected with day to day things that others would take for granted.
My knee is crunching nicely now, sounds very similar to how my hip went when that finally gave up prior to replacement, and as it’s 3 times the size of the other one, I have my normal knee and my elephant knee, if nothing else it raises a chuckle.
